Effect of High Dose Radiation on dog Thigh Muscle by MR Imaging and 31P MR Spectroscopy


Abstract
Rationale ad objectives of this study were to investigate the alterations of signal intensities, relaxation times (T1 and T2) and phosphorus metabolites of dog thigh muscle after x-ray irradiation by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 31P
magnetic
resonance spectroscopy (MRS).
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. MR signals showed no significant morphologic changes on T1-and T2-weighted images until 56 days after 5,000 cGy irradiation. In cases of 10 ,000 cGy irradiation, however, they began to produce signal changes only on T2-weighted images
after

days with extensive high signal intensities after 42 days.
